Admissions Requirements
Freshmen - A completed Ave Maria University Application
- Payment of a $50.00 non-refundable fee
- An official high school transcript and proof of graduation (copy of diploma).
- An official admissions exam report with a minimum score of 22 on the ACT exam, or 1580 on the SAT exam. The SAT College Board School Code is 3840. The ACT code is 4813 . Students whose native language is not English will also have to submit a TOEFL report with a minimum score of 550 on the Paper-based Test or 85 on the Internet-based Test. The TOEFL school code is 3507.
- Admissions essay (500 words). Please choose of the following topics:
a. Describe why you would like to attend Ave Maria University and what you hope to gain from your time here. b. Describe the influence a character in literature or historical figure has had on you. - Two letters of recommendation (one recommendation must be from an academic source).
Transfer Students- A completed application for admission.
- A non-refundable application fee.
- Final, official college transcripts from each college previously attended, whether or not credit was earned, must be mailed directly to the Admissions Office. A minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average is required.
- An official admissions exam report. Transfer applicants who have passed 30 or more units of college degree applicable semester hours with grades no lower than C (C- does not count) are exempt from this requirement
- An official high school transcript with a minimum grade point average of 2.0 (70 on a scale of 0-100), or a GED score of 50 or higher mailed directly to the Admissions Office. Transfer applicants who have passed 30 or more units of college degree applicable semester hours with grades no lower then C (C- does not count) are exempt from this requirement.
- All transfer applicants to Ave Maria University Latin American Campus will be required to take placement examinations in English, Spanish and Mathematics unless transfer credit has been awarded in those subjects.
- In some instances, letters of recommendation and/or a personal interview with a University representative may be required.
Re-admission - A completed application for reinstatement.
- Official college transcripts from each college attended since last enrollment in Ave Maria University Latin American Campus, whether or not credit was earned, must be mailed directly to the Admissions Office.
- Two letters of recommendation (new letters are required).
Transient Students - A completed application for admission.
- A non-refundable application fee.
- An official approved transient student application from the institution from which the student wishes to be a transient.
OthersSpecial (non-degree) Students - A completed application for admission.
- Non-refundable application fee.
- An official transcript from the most recent college or high school attended.
Audit Students - A completed application for admission.
- A $3.00 application fee.
Pre-College Program for High School Juniors- A completed application for admission.
- A letter of recommendation from the high school principal or guidance counselor.
- An official high school transcript with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or 80. (Note: high school Sophomores may apply for the Pre-College program, but must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or 87 and their admission must be approved by the Admissions Committee.)
- An official admissions exam report with a minimum score of 23 on the ACT exam, which is the equivalent of 1050 on the old SAT exam and 1575 on the new SAT exam. The SAT College Board School code for Ave Maria University Latin American Campus score reports is 3840. Students whose native language is not English may be admitted to the Pre-College program with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based TOEFL exam, which is the equivalent of 213 on the computer-based TOEFL and 79 on the internet based TOEFL.
